Monthly review march

By: Rixt Hofenk, at 08-04-2024 at 13:02

With the transition from winter to spring and from winter time to summer time, March also marked the change from indoor season to outdoor season. The month still began with NSK Indoor in Apeldoorn. With about 20 participants we colored the grandstand and the track blue. New PRs were achieved and debuts at the races. Also the 4*400 relay team, consisting of Diewertje, Fleur, Rosa and Rixt won a silver medal.

A week and a half later it was time for the monthly get-together in Tram 13. The theme was kakkers, so the hair was combed into a middle parting and sweaters were buttoned up.

On the weekend of March 16, the alternative training weekend took place at our own track in Groningen. The whole day could be trained and we ended with a barbecue and a pub quiz.

There was not much time to recover from this training weekend, because on Wednesday, March 20, it was time for the one and only FeestCie sports spectacle. There was volleyball, basketball and soccer. All in all, another sporting activity.

To continue on the athletic path in this month, we left March 23 for Enschede with as many as four teams for NSK Ekiden. They competed for the best team performance on the marathon with 6 people. In the end, three teams won prizes: 'Loopgroep Kech & Co' finished in third place with the men. Among the women, the 'Vitalis Women' team bested second place and 'Vitalis More Women' third. The day ended in pajamas at the pajama party. So, all in all, a successful day.

March ended on the 30th with our own Easter Bunny Cup, organized by the BaanCie. Especially at the 5000 meters Vitalis was very present, but also at the other events blue shirts were very visible.

So March was another successful month full of sporting events!

Monthly review february

By: Rixt Hofenk, at 01-03-2024 at 11:54

February was a short month, although it was a day longer this year, that was dominated by Vitalis for many. In addition to the activities this month, training sessions were well attended despite the cold. The competitions are picking up, so training is becoming more focused again in order to peak in the spring at all the N(S)Ks, league competitions and more!

Besides all the training, there must of course also be time for relaxation: that is why the FeestCie organized a cocktail workshop at the beginning of February. Delicious Vitalist-themed drinks were prepared in the cafeteria and of course tasted while enjoying games. The Vitalists could make and taste a Strawberry Sprintz, Lil Speck on the Beach, Marathon Mojito and a Vitalis Blue Lagoon.

There wasn't much time to recover from this cocktail evening, however, because two days later 20 enthusiastic Vitalists boarded the bus on their way to beautiful Saint-Fran├žois Longchamp for a very special altitude training trip: the annual Skitalis trip! For eight days the running shoes were exchanged for skis and snowboards. It was an amazing week!

Once back in Groningen, we could almost immediately catch up on this week in the snow and what the non-Skitalists had experienced that week at the Valentine's Day drinks! The Tram was transformed into a very romantic place. Love was shown through the rose action, where Vitalists could send each other a rose. Fortunately, for those who did not dare to do so, the Party Committee also had a solution: there was a real speed dating corner to maybe meet the love of your life.... It was a love-filled get-together.

February ended with the first competition of the new BaanCie: the BaanCie indoor jump competition. They competed for first place in four events: squat high jump, scissor jump, standing high jump and standing long jump. At the end, the participants were surprised with a classic beep test, which some received just a little more positively than others. In the end, Evelien and Rens walked away with the titles.

All in all, thanks to the efforts of all committees, trainers and members, February was a fun and full month!

January review

By: Rixt Hofenk, at 06-02-2024 at 15:25

After the Christmas vacations, activities and training started up again at Vitalis. Despite the dark evenings and cold weather, Vitalists were back on the track in full force in January. The month began on Wednesday, Jan. 10, with the monthly party committee drinks, which this month were in the theme of crazy hats. The strangest items appeared, such as sombreros, Santa hats and an IKEA stool by Jim, who was the best dressed up with these. A week and a half later, the Party Committee organized a New Year's Eve dinner in the canteen. All Vitalists brought something tasty to catch up on the Christmas vacations, exams and holidays over a delicious dinner. In addition, there was a fun pub quiz that looked back at 2023 and predicted 2024.
On Jan. 24, the time had come: the Exchange AGM. After a long sitting, board 27 resigned: Jerom, Luuk, Robin, Roos and Laurens; thanks again for all your efforts last year for the association! Board 28, consisting of Rosa, Miriam, Fleur, Diewertje and Rixt was then hammered in. This was of course celebrated in the Tram after the AGM.

After the AGM, the new board was immediately highly visible at NSK Cross in their pink hoodies. A group of 14 enthusiastic Vitalists traveled to Maastricht where Sint-Pietersberg was climbed during the sprint, short or long cross. The day ended festively with a carnival party.

The month ended with the First Year Committee's first activity where freshmen and intro parents ventured out for a game of Jeu de Boules at Boel. The activity ended with a fun quiz at the Tram.

So all in all, January was another month of enjoying Vitalis to the fullest!
