GSAV Vitalis is a still young athletics club that was founded in 1996 at the initiative of Marco Glastra. Nowadays the club has more than 120 members, and with that we are the largest student athletic club of the Netherlands. Vitalis is a athletics club where the practicing of sports at (top)level is combined with social activities and fun! In the past years, Vitalis has won several important Student Competions! Also, every year the prestigious RUG / Hanze batateam exists for a large part of Vitalis members. Our women’s team is represented in the second division of the national competition, where our men’s team is represented in the third division.

It is always possible to just drop by and see if you like our practices. We also offer several social activities, at which there are always many Vitalis members present. For instance, a warm meal is served in the canteen most Tuesday evenings after practice, and every second Wednesday of the month we have a drink at the Tram 13.

The membership of G.S.A.V. Vitalis goes from 1 January to 31 December. The contribution for 2011 is set at €30,-. Besides the contribution you have to pay licencing fees for the national athletics union. For recreational sporters and for competition members in 2011 this is respectively €15,05 and €35,40. New members also have to pay a one time administration fee of respectively €5,95 and €8,40 (2010). For the introduction period (Sept.-Dec.) it is possible to join Vitalis against a reduced fee of €10,- plus a reduced licencing fee for the national athletics union.

As at any student sports club at Groningen, members of Vitalis need to be in possession of a ACLO-tivated college card. The ACLO is the over arching student sports organization of the University of Groningen and the Hanzehogeschool Groningen.
